The citizens of the Ireland and for those who are interested in wearing green, the day of March 17th which is a great day. It is the day which is celebrated with great job and excitement. Dublin is the place where the excitement takes place but most of the parties occur in New York and Boston. But not many people are aware as why the day St.Patrick is actually celebrated.

It is believed that the first St. Patrick Day parade didn’t happen in Ireland but in America. In the year 1762 the military of Britain marched through New York. It is believed that parade is the oldest parade and biggest in America along with more than 150, 000 members. Every year more than two million people attend the parade which is over two hours.

It was in the mid 19th century that majority of immigrants belonged to the middle class. When in the year 1845 Great Potato Famine came in Ireland Catholic Irish started to arrive in America to avoid hunger. The immigrants were not able to find decent jobs there.

There are various stories famous for St. Patrick but they are all fake and do not make any sense. It is believed that St. Patrick managed to throw out all the snakes from Ireland. If he actually did that then he really did a great job and he also managed to eliminate any evidence of the existence of the snakes. But in reality nothing happened what is believed by the people. Nothing concrete is said about it.

Mr. Patrick was nabbed by raiding party of Ireland and was made a slave. He managed to escape from there after six years to Britain but he made a comeback to Ireland. When he made his comeback to Ireland he spread the message of Christianity. He played an important role in spreading monasteries in Ireland. Now people just take the old belief as an excuse to drink.
