About Us
A new chapter in the development of Irish-Polish relations began with the collapse of the communist system in Poland, and in 1991 the Irish Polish Society established contacts with the newly opened Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Dublin.
The purpose for which the Society is established is to promote greater mutual interest and understanding between the Irish and Polish communities through social and cultural activities and to promote, sponsor, teach, study, advance and encourage interest in and knowledge of the culture, history, peoples, language and traditions of Poland and the Polish people. (See the Rules of the Irish Polish Society).
To promote interest in Polish life and culture in Ireland, the Society organizes lectures and discussion meetings, concerts, art exhibitions and other cultural and educational events.
Since its foundation in 1979, the Society has promoted and supported Poland and Polish issues in Ireland. In recent years the Society lobbied for Polish membership of EU. It continues to promote the achievements of the new democratic Poland, and assists Polish newcomers to Ireland.
A committee elected annually runs the Society. Our membership is open to all and all are welcome. A membership subscription of 12 Euro for an individual and 17 Euro for a family is payable each year on 1st of September and is valid until the end of August of the following year.
